Retiring & Reforging Horses

Last updated April 15, 2025

There are two ways a horse can be retired from the racing pool:

  • Voluntary Retirement: When its owner chooses to retire the horse.
  • Forced Retirement: When the horse ranks lowest (out of the eligible horses) on the Balance Leaderboard and eligible Stud auctions are ready to be settled.

Before either can occur, the horse must be eligible for retirement. To be eligible for retirement, the following conditions must be met, the horse must:

  • have completed four races
  • be in the racing pool (not retired).

Before a horse can retire (be removed from the racing pool), a replacement horse must be minted from the Stud Marketplace to maintain the racing pool size.
