Horse Attributes
Each horse in ZED Champions has a number of public and secret attributes that will influence its racing performance. These attributes are determined by breeding mechanics and can be further enhanced by augments (which are discussed later in the Guide).
Public Attributes
Public horse attributes include:
- Name - each horse is uniquely named.
- Bloodline (Nakamoto, Szabo, Finney, Buterin) - each bloodline has its own attributes influencing racing performance and breeding potential.
- Generation (0+)
- A horse’s generation indicates how many breeding slots it starts with and how many Forge Tokens (gained by reforging horses) it costs to generate new breeding slots.
- Available Breeding Slots
- Every horse starts with five slots, minus their generation number, with a minimum of zero. Every horse has a maximum of 10 total breeding actions throughout its lifetime.
- Sex
- Racing pool: Colt (male) or Filly (female) Breeding pool: Stud (male) or Mare (female)
- Coat Color
- Each bloodline has a distinct set of colors; ranging from common to very rare. When breeding horses, breed and color are tracked separately, making rare and unusual combinations possible. Coat color is based on parentage, but the entire history of a horse has meaning and sometimes surprising combinations happen.
- Parentage/Lineage
- Improving the quality of your stable is a key skill in ZED Champions. A foal’s performance is strongly based on its lineage, making parentage a critical factor in predicting potential racing success. Each bloodline has unique strengths and weaknesses. Foals will always inherit the same bloodline as one of their parents, making thoughtful pairings essential for building a competitive stable
- Birthday
Secret Attributes
Well it wouldn’t be a secret if we told you now, would it? There are some secret horse attributes that you can discover to optimize your breeding strategies.
Horse Performance
In addition to its attributes, a horse’s performance is determined by several key systems. These systems help define how well a horse competes in races and evolve as the horse participates in events:
- Overall rating: General rating for the horse’s capabilities. Available immediately.
- Speed rating: How fast the horse runs. Available after 5 races.
- Sprint rating: A combination of how long and fast the horse sprints down the stretch. Available after 10 races.
- Endurance rating: Reflects how each race impacts the performance of the horse. Available after 15 races.
Your horse’s ratings will gradually be revealed through racing or fully unlocked upon retirement. Analyze each performance to uncover strengths and weaknesses, gaining valuable insights to inform your strategy.
